Road Closures

Construction

Several construction projects are taking place throughout the City. If you happen to turn on to any road with active construction, please be watchful of detour signs and be sure to drop your speed accordingly. The speed limit in construction areas is 25 miles per hour unless otherwise posted. Be sure to check this website and the websites of the towns you plan to visit and look for their Road Closure Updates.

Driving Tips

Fog

When driving in fog, please turn on your headlights. Do not use your running lights unless you have checked to make sure your tail-lights are also on, but don't forget, not all running lights include your tail-lights. Use your low-beams when driving in the fog.

Please adjust your speed when driving in the fog, it isn't always safe to drive the speed limit.

Rain

When driving in rain, State of California Law says, if you are using your windshield wipers then your headlights must also be on.

Cell Phone Use

It is illegal in the State of California to use your cell phone while driving, that includes talking and texting. Hands-free devices are allowed and several vehicles are now set-up with Bluetooth. If you must make a call or answer the phone, it is better to pull over when safe and park your vehicle well off the roadway or turn down a side street.
