Information for New Residents

Welcome to the City of Riverbank! It is our desire to help your move to our community go as smoothly as possible. Included here is information that we hope you find useful. Make sure you call the utility companies before you move so there will be no delay in having your utilities turned on at your new address.

Utilities

Electricity / Gas

Electric service is provided by either Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) or Modesto Irrigation District (MID). To contact these companies, please call:

  • MID: 209-526-7337 or toll free 888-335-1643

Water / Sewer / Garbage

If you live within the city limits of Riverbank, you will receive one invoice for water, sewer, and garbage services every 2 months. Water and sewer are supplied by the city; the garbage service is provided by Gilton Solid Waste Management, Inc., but the city bills for that service. To start these services you must open an account with the City of Riverbank in person at the Finance Department located at:

Transportation

Stanislaus Regional Transit (StaRT)

StaRT is the county bus service, it has fixed-routes between Riverbank and Oakdale to the north; Turlock, Keyes, and Patterson to the south; Empire, Hughson, and Waterford to the east; and Grayson and Crows Landing to the west. StaRT runs Monday through Saturday; there is no Sunday service. For more information, please call 800-262-1516.
