Stanislaus County - The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is launching an improvement project that will strengthen the embankment on the west side of State Route 108 (SR-108) from 7th Street to Claus Road in east Riverbank. Because this work requires construction crews to use the westbound lane, SR-108 will be under one-way reversing traffic control with portable signals to direct westbound and eastbound traffic. Portable signals will be placed near Claus Road to the east and 7th Street to the west, with signal timing set to maximize traffic flow and minimize delays. Work is scheduled to begin in late January 2020, with the project scheduled to finish in the Spring of 2021. Caltrans also will have changeable message signs in this region advertising the project and alerting motorist of the potential delays. Motorists can expect 15-minute delays and are encouraged to seek alternate routes. Work is scheduled to begin as listed, but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and /or materials and construction related issues. For the safety of workers and other motorists, please Slow For the Cone Zone.
