Program Overview
Swim lessons are offered in 2-week sessions that run Monday through Thursday for 40 minutes. Instructors will test on the first day of class to confirm each child is placed in the correct level. Preregistration is required. The class sizes are:
  • Tiny Tots: 1 instructor per 4 students
  • Beginner: 1 instructor per 6 students
  • Advanced: 1 instructor per 8 students
Swim Lessons in a Row
Fees are $50 for residents and $55 for nonresidents. There will be a $5 fee for cancellation and/or transfer once registered. Please be sure to choose the correct time, level and session. No refunds are issued unless cancellation is processed 3 days prior to the class.

Scholarships are available on a limited basis. Please ask at the Parks and Recreation Office.

Morning Lessons Times & Levels
  • Advanced Beginner / Intermediate: 11 a.m.
  • Beginner: 11 a.m. and 11:50 a.m.
  • Tiny Tot: 11 a.m. and 11:50 a.m.
Evening Lessons Times & Levels
  • Advanced Beginner / Intermediate: 6:15 p.m
  • Beginner: 4 p.m., 4:45 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 6:15 p.m.
  • Parent / Baby: 5:30 p.m.
  • Tiny Tot: 4 p.m., 4:45 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 6:15 p.m.
Private Lessons
Private lessons can be arranged trough the Recreation Department depending on the instructor availability. The cost is $130 for 8 days of lessons and a half an hour in length.

Evening Lessons
Morning and evening lessons are available as well as private lessons.

Class Descriptions
  • Advanced Beginner / Intermediate (Levels 4-6): Stroke Improvement and stroke refinement. These courses are for the more advanced swimmer. Skills learned in level 3 will be practiced to build student confidence. Stroke refinement includes additional guided practice. Swimming distances are required to build endurance. These courses require additional pool space, so it is offered only at limited times. Class ratio is 1:8.
  • Beginner (Levels 1-3): Introduction to water skills, Fundamental Aquatic Skills, Stroke Development. The beginner classes are designed to progress from 1 to 3. A student placed in a level 2 class must perform the skills required for level 1. This requirement continues from level to level. Some classes may be combined if the classes are not full. Class is ratio 1:6
  • Parent/Baby: This course is designed for the 6 month to 36 month old. A parent or both parents learn how to assist their child in water adjustment with the guidance of an instructor. Swim diapers are required, and a parent is required to be in the water.
  • Private Lessons: Private lessons can be arranged through the Recreation Department, and depending on instructor availability. The cost is $130 for 8 days of lessons that are one half hour in length.
  • Tiny Tot: This course is designed for preschool, ages 3-5 year olds, and for the child who is ready to learn to swim. This is an introductory course that will help your child feel comfortable in the water as well as introduce them to basic water safety and swimming skills. Parents remain out of the water for this course, but can offer support and encouragement. Class ratio is 1:4
